Tenun Ikat Flores |
Ternyata banyak daerah di Indonesia yang
menghasilkan kerajinan tenun ikat antara lain Bali (Tenun Ikat Gringsing), Batak
(Ulos), Garut (Tenun Garutan), Jepara (Tenun Ikat Troso), Kalimantan (Tenun
Sambas/Kain Lunggi, Lampung (Tapis), Palembang (Tenun Songket), Timor-Timur
terbagi menjadi 3 jenis yaitu :
1. TENUN
banyak ditemukan didaerah Kupang, Timor Tengah Selatan, Timor Tengah Utara,
Belu, Alor, Flores Timur, Lembata, Sikka, Ngada dan Manggarai
Variety of Kain

Many traditional heritage which is the
ancestral cultural wealth are things we should preserve. Among them are kain tenun ikat. Who else is going to preserve this if it is not our generation. Before it is extinct or already in the museum of other countries,
or we
will be very sad if
other countries claim as their heritage, because our ignorance, we must preserve our heritage.

A little review on the various kain tenun
of NTT (Nusa Tenggara
Timur)
NTT is an interesting discussion because it has the most
variety of kain tenun
because it has 20 districts and one city inhabited by 15 tribes or ethnic, the
customs and cultures of each, of course, with the creation of different kain tenun, can be seen from ornamental
pattern or motif brocade. And the naming of kain tenun usually
by its
regional or district origin.
Catagorized by
the ways of making, kain tenun
NTT divided into 3 types:
1. Tenun ikat

From the looks is similar to tenun songket. The manufacturing process is the same as tenun Buna that using thread that has been dyed first. The difference lies in the combination of weaving and embroidery so the motive will look like 3D.
These kinds are widely found in Kupang, Eastern Central Timor, Northern Central Timor, Belu, Alor, East Flores, Lembata, Sikka, Ngada and Manggarai.
